Thompson, O'Neil & VanderVeen is a personal injury law firm in Traverse City. They had two web sites and were frustrated because no one could find either one on the Net. We designed a new web site for them with content-rich pages, a blog to make their updates easy to manage, effective navigation and search engine optimization.  They are delighted with their new professional look. There existing web sites are  redirected to the new web site, linking their legal directory listing and another URL to this new web site.

Thompson, O'Neil & VanderVeen actively blog in order to aggressively market their website. They wanted to separate their employment law issues from personal injury issues. That recently occurred during an upgrade to their existing website.

The Law Offices of Laurel Stuart Fink

Laurel Stuart-Fink is a family lawyer who practices in Wayne, Oakland & Macomb Counties in Michigan. Because these counties are saturated with competition from other such highly skilled lawyers, Laurel wanted a website that project her philosophy of practice, one that separates her from many other family lawyers in that geographic area.

As Laurel expresses is so well on her web site:

"Family law is unique because it involves much more than simply the concept of winning and losing -- especially where children are involved. This means balancing aggressive, expert advocacy with sensitivity to the best interests of my clients and their children. I am an accessible counselor and advisor to my clients, and a formidable but fair advocate to my opposing counsel. I am tough and yet professionally courteous and fair-minded. An attorney does not have to behave like a street thug in order to obtain a good and fair result of a family law case, but I will never allow anyone to take advantage of my clients."

Laurel is practical and runs her practice in a business-like manner. Knowing that a website is merely a business card until it is placed into the hands of the prospective client, Laurel asked HWD to design a blog for her as well:

Nina Mann website

Not all of our web sites are designed for lawyers. Nina Mann, a local jeweler with clients around the country, contacted us to do a lean and elegant website to showcase her creations. Nina was particularly interested in showing client the fine detail work in her pieces, and the individual pages, reached from thumbnails, does just that. Her work is shown at about 4 X actual, and the incredibly fine detail in her work certainly shines. This project was challenging and fun.

http://traversecityfamilylaw.com website

Jeanne M. Hannah is a family lawyer practicing in Traverse City, Michigan and neighboring communities. Her website has all the bells and whistles, and performs well in search engine results, is usually listed 2 to 3 times among the top 10 returns (of say, 500,000+ returns) and is often listed among the top 10 returns with results in excess of 2 or 3 million returns from search engine results, demonstrating the importance of search engine optimization.

Jeanne's Blog: Recognizing the fact that having an informative website isn't enough and that the website functions more or less as a business card until a lawyer places it in the hands of a potential client, Jeanne M. Hannah actively markets her website using her Blog Updates in Michigan Family Law. Jeanne estimates that her website accounts for about 95% of her family law referrals. The marketing function of a blog cannot be overestimated. Her blog has such special features as a function users can access to subscribe to email update and also a search function using Google Search. Visit her blog here.

Anne Cole Pierce is a family lawyer practicing in Franklin, Michigan and neighboring communities. She already had a website that was not generating the number of contacts that she had hoped for. She wanted a website with search engine optimization so that potential clients in Novi, Farmington Hills, Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, and other communities would have no problem in finding her. Her legal directory website redirects contacts to this site.

Charlotte Allen, Midland Michigan Family Law website

Charlotte Allen is a family  lawyer practicing in Midland, Michigan and neighboring communities. She has a website but wanted to upgrade the design and include search engine optimization so that potential family law clients would easily find her web site "organically" -- in other words, in direct response to a key word search rather than only through a legal directory. Charlotte had some definite ideas about visual design effects that we were able to accommodate.

Kronzek & Conkright Family Law website

Chuck Kronzek and Mike Conkright are  lawyers practicing in Lansing, Michigan and neighboring communities. Taking Charge: Good Medical Care for the Elderly and How to Get It website

Taking Charge: Good Medical Care for the Elderly and How To Get It is a caregiver's handbook written by Jeanne M. Hannah, a family caregiver with Joseph H. Friedman, M.D. Advance praise for this book includes this, from Dr. Wendy Harpham, herself a published and acclaimed author: "You don't have to feel helpless any more! Taking Charge enables you to understand and embrace your vital role in helping prevent common medical complications in your elderly loved one." Jeanne had two goals with this website. First, she wanted to give away substantial information that will help family caregivers decide to buy this book, and second, she wants to use this website with a PayPal shopping cart (not yet inserted) for marketing purposes.

Website of Wendy S. Harpham, M.D.

Wendy Harpham is a doctor of internal medicine, cancer survivor, and award-winning and best-selling author. She is also a public speaker, patient advocate, and mother of three. Her books and lectures discuss ●   Healthy Survivorship    ●    Healing doctor-patient relationships    ●    Recovery and late effects after cancer    ●    Raising children when a parent has cancer    ●    Finding happiness in hard times. Dr. Harpham wanted an updated website that would showcase her published works and provide a springboard to new projects. Click on the image above to preview this website. This website has been upgraded and subsequently turned over to Dr. Harpham who maintains it herself, updating content as needed.

Subsequently, Dr. Harpham wanted a blog. She regularly post on her blog titled Dr. Wendy Harpham On Healthy Survivorship. Hannah Web Design designed her blog and then turned it to her for her active management.

Dr. Joseph H. Friedman is the author of Making the Connection Between Brain and Behavior: Coping with Parkinson's Disease, published by Demos Medical Publishing in November 2007. This web site was designed for him to help with marketing of his book for caregivers of Parkinson's Disease patients.

Dr. Friedman a Clinical Professor of Neurology in the Department of Clinical Neurosciences at Brown University Medical School. He is also the Director of NeuroHealth Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders Center in Warwick, Rhode Island. He is also the Editor in Chief of Medicine and Health, Rhode Island (the state medical journal, a joint publication of the Rhode Island Medical Society, Brown University, the Rhode Island Dept of Health and Rhode Island Quality Partners).

Joan Bonney's The Color of Water website

Joan Bonney came to me with an idea for a website that would help her in her mission to use the arts to raise awareness of global water issues throughout the world. Joan is a very proactive volunteer, actively involved with Rotary International. Joan's forte' is painting, and in time to come, folks will see more of that on her website. Thus, painting and other visual arts, music (her son Jim is a composer and her site links out to his and to mp3s of some of his composition dealing with the central theme of water), and literature are the focus of her mission to advocate for the responsible management of water issues. See Joan's new website here.

Becky & Glen Chown Family Blog

This project was fun to do. Friends and neighbors, planned a 6-week trip to Costa Rica on a sabbatical funded, in part, by the Kellogg Foundation. They needed a blog where they could post accounts of their daily activities and photographs of the places they visited in Costa Rica, including EARTH University. In addition, they wanted links to other valuable Internet resources complementing their trip. We've worked out an arrangement so that they can post their blog entries in Costa Rica, email me attached photos, and I then upload photographs to the blog and to a separate  photo journal page. This frees them up for their fun, (and eliminates the frustrations of working with dial-up connections). See the Chown Family Blog here.

The Peter Dougherty Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to preservation of the first post and beam house built on the Old Mission Peninsula in Jeanne's neck of the woods. Thus, it was a natural for Jeanne to offer to construct and do search engine optimization and marketing for their website, which was donated to the Society. One of the challenges was to project Old Mission as a "destination." Once the renovation and restoration is done and educational programs begin, it is expected that Old Mission, Michigan will become even more popular as a tourist destination.
